The end of British Summertime saw the Met travelling to newly promoted Reigate. The newcomers have been struggling at this new level but the Met took the pitch with the utmost respect for a Club that had given them two very good games last term.
The early exchanges proved that, despite some heavy reverses, the Reigate spirit was as strong as ever. The home side were first to cross the line and the Met knew they had a competitive game on their hands. And how they responded! The scoreline belies the fact that Reigate battled for the full 80; they simply could not contain the exceptional play of the Police back division, and the game was to see 18 tries.
Reigate's pack worked ceaselessly at the coal-face. They were strong in line outs and had any number of powerful runners with ball in hand. The Met defence has been remarkable all season and it again drew plaudits as it thwarted Reigate's offence all afternoon.
Five tries for winger Chris Holloway and three for Cormac Healy were highlights amongst the 15 tries Met ran in, while Reigate responded with 3 of their own. Reigate are having a rough patch but they still have a squad of dedicated players and staff representing them each week. With time, they will turn the corner and somebody will have their noses put out of joint.
The game finished up with the Met winning 96 to 19. After the previous week's disappointment against Media, it was a much needed boost to the Police's confidence and reasserted their table-topping aspirations
