The delayed start to the Surrey 2 League season is finally upon us. On Saturday the Met make the trip to Croydon to take on Old Whitgiftians. Recent head-to-head history reveals a highly competitive, high-scoring rivalry in Surrey 2. In the last four encounters, Old Whitgiftian holds a 3-1 advantage, though games are routinely high-scoring thrillers. In January last season, the game swung on a brilliant individual performance by Jordan Lewis who racked up 23 points including a hat-trick of tries. The September encounter in 2025 saw the Met achieve a “shut-out” while scoring 43 points of their own.
Lewis captains the hosts this season while Jack Doswell-Lowe retains the armband for the Met. Unfortunately, it’s too hot and the pitches are too hard so nobody actually wants to play this weekend. The match has now taken on “friendly”, so we’ll write no more about it
