England trialist passes away, quietly at home

Jim Towers, a stalwart of Metropolitan Police Rugby, passed away quietly at home on 5th October 2017. Jim was a tough uncompromising back row forward who played rugby for The Metropolitan Police, British Police, Middlesex, London Counties and had Two England Trials. He was awarded his MPAA colours in 1958, having played alongside another legendary Met Detective, Tug Wilson, who won eight England caps. Jim suffered with a dickey heart and diabetes which in the end, at the age of 77, got the better of him. Jim leaves behind his wife, Helen, two daughters Karen and Melissa and their four grand-children.

The funeral arrangements are:-
